August’s Economic Numbers

Listening to the President’s speech at the Milwaukee Laborfest this past week, he would have the country believe that the economy is booming- or at the very least, strengthening enough to give the country more confidence in his stewardship. Among other things, Obama bragged that his administration has created more than ten million jobs and that the country is stronger because Americans now have “quality, affordable health insurance that [we] can count on.” He also claimed that because of his economic policies, the American economy is stronger now than when he took office back in 2009.

But according to Obama, the main reason more people don’t realize how well the economy is doing is because of – the media. Yes, the same media that has defended his poor economic policies and have willingly spun the jobs report month in and month out- regardless of how bad the reports have been- are now at fault for- I guess- not spinning the economic news in his favor, enough.

Unfortunately for President Obama, the jobs numbers and other economic indicators paint a much different, less optimistic picture than the one he paints- regardless of television media input.

The initial estimate of the second-quarter GDP growth rate of four percent was revised upwards to 4.2%, which is news considering the first quarter contracted 2.1%. Though the second quarter growth is good news, when averaged with the first quarter, the economy has grown slightly above one percent.

As for jobs numbers, payroll processor ADP says that 204,000 jobs were added in August. Though down from the previous month’s job additions, August was thought to be the seventh month that private job creation exceeded 200,000. But, the BLS says that there were only 142,000 jobs created last month, far below what many economists expected. In addition, 7.3 million people are stuck in part-time employment and 92 million people aren’t in the labor force.

In August, the national unemployment rate ticked down to 6.1%. The U-6 rate, the more accurate indicator of unemployment- which includes discouraged workers, workers marginally attached to the labor force and those working part-time but prefer full-time work- is still 12%.

The unemployment rate for blacks is 11.4%, and there are more than twelve million blacks not in the labor force. Black teen unemployment dropped to 32.8%.   The unemployment rate for the politically coveted Latino demographic was 7.5%.

The labor force participation rate dropped slightly to 62.8%, once again matching the lowest point seen since 1978.

Other economic indicators show:

  • Every month for the last 36 months, at least 45 million Americans have been enrolled on food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), according to the Department of Agriculture. In May 2014, the last month in which the data is known, more than 46 million people received food stamps;
  • The Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s Monthly Treasury Report, 2013 saw over two trillion dollars in benefits and entitlements paid out by the federal government. Almost seventy percent of this amount was paid out in non-means tested programs, which means program eligibility isn’t tied to income;
  • According to Census data, more than a third of Americans are receiving some form of government assistance.
  • Data recently released by Sentier Research shows that the median household income is more than three percent lower now than it was when the recession was declared over in June 2009, and is almost five percent lower than it was in December, 2007.
  • The Pew Charitable Trust shows that no state in the country could claim employment gains between 2007-2014.
  • The National Retail Federation announced that the retail industry lost almost 18,000 jobs in August;
  • The Congressional Budget Office recently revised an April 2014 report on the potential effects of Obamacare on the economy over the next ten years. Not only does the CBO project a smaller labor force participation rate than pre-recession levels, but expects the labor force participation rate to be further reduced because ACA subsidies are tied to income. After a certain level (400% of the federal poverty level) the higher the income the fewer subsidies available for increasing premiums- a clear incentive not to work.
  • For all of Obama’s income inequality rhetoric that fuels class warfare and resentment, under his leadership “the richest 10 percent were the only income group of Americans that saw their median incomes rise,” according to a Federal Reserve survey.
  • Even AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka has soured on Obama’s economic policies. When a union leader calls out the President of the party it supports, funds, and perverts- in addition to other Democrats- you know it’s bad.

With statistics like these it’s no wonder why the majority of Americans– 54%- are disappointed in the job Obama is doing on the economy– and he is “doing a job” on the economy. It’s also no surprise that almost half of Americans- 49%- think the economy is still in recession.

But according to Obama, all this bad news is the fault of the media and not his irresponsible economic policies.

The Real War On Blacks and Black Males Committed By Blacks

The lies about the source and agents of racial criminality churned out by the Racial and Black Grievance Industries must stop.

Since the death of Michael Brown by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, the country has been subjected and overrun by false, victimization narratives regarding black criminality and black deaths at the hands of- supposedly racist- law enforcement.

This scenario seems to be an annual event. A black suspect is accosted or arrested by white officers- or in the case of George Zimmerman, a ‘white Hispanic,’ “acting like a cop.” If the suspect lives, the media allows him to lecture the public in an attempt to shame the country for its disbelief in the continuing power and influence of racial discrimination. If the suspect dies, he becomes the main character in the media-manufactured narrative that “proves” the country is as racist toward blacks as it’s ever been. The dead suspect- regardless of any and all evidence that disproves his victimization and implicates the offender’s culpability in the confrontation – becomes a martyr, a cause celebre, in the pursuit of “racial justice” at the expense of white America.

This summer’s martyr was of course, Michael Brown- who died when a Ferguson police officer, it’s claimed, shot Brown six times after a physical confrontation between the two. That the details of this encounter are fragmented and incomplete didn’t prevent the Racial and Black Grievance Industries from fabricating a story they claim is representative of a common occurrence across the country. The narrative of Brown’s encounter was light on facts characterized by exaggeration and speculation, while saturated with emotion. It was intentionally perpetuated to manipulate the residents of Ferguson- and people across the country, particularly blacks, into thinking that racist white cops are emblematic of a major threat to black lives in the United States.

The result of this charade has been weeks of media-fed “conversations” about the hostility that exists between (white) cops and the black Americans whom they victimize. The product of this so-called conversation- which as usual, is more of a lecture rather than a dialogue- is that we have people, again, publicly decrying a “war on black males.” But these sanctimonious lamenters refuse to correctly identify who’s at fault in this “war.” Spike Lee, Bishop TD Jakes, pundits on MSNBC, and Washington D.C. – based pastor, Thabiti Anyabwile, among others, have all spoken out about their concerns that black men- including their sons, are victims or potential victims in this war. Michelle Bernard, head of the Bernard Center for Women, has gone so far (too far) as to say on MSNBC that, “the United States, which is supposed to be the greatest nation on earth, sits back and allows black boys to be murdered.” Bernard went on to say that this is “going to turn into a genocide if it doesn’t stop.”

This is the kind of rubbish that comes out of the Racial and Black Grievance Industries, fueling racial polarization but more importantly, lending credibility to the dishonest notion that the natural identity of blacks is that of victim.

The intentional, selective, self-serving outrage of the two grievance industries reveals an agenda driven by double standards to justify their existence. Yes, there is a war on black men, but the war on black men isn’t at the hands of whites, cops, or even white cops. The war on black men is perpetuated by the blood-stained hands of other black men. That the Black Grievance and Racial Grievance Industries ignore this reality, or flippantly claim that they give as much attention or display as much outrage toward it as they do the disproportionately few attacks on blacks by whites, undermines their credibility and the credibility of their laments.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, data collected from 1980-2008 reveal that in 2008, the homicide offender rate for blacks was almost twenty-five percent, seven times higher than the offending rate of whites (3.4%).   The homicide victimization rate for blacks was about six times higher than the victimization rates for whites. Blacks were also 47.4% of all homicide victims and 52.5% of all homicide offenders. During the same period, blacks accounted for 62% of all drug-related homicides compared to thirty-seven percent committed by whites. Over sixty-five percent of all drug-related homicide offenders were black, whereas whites comprised thirty-three percent.

During the same period, blacks were 44.1% of felony murder victims and almost sixty percent of felony murder offenders. When it comes to gun homicide rates, blacks were 51.4% of all victims but 56.9% of gun homicide offenders. Ninety-three percent of all black homicides were committed by black offenders.

The FBI statistics aren’t any better. According to the FBI’s Crime in the United States report from 2012, of the 2,648 black victims of homicide, 2,412 were committed by blacks. Of the 14,581 total murder offenders that year, 5531 (38%) were black.

To say that these statistics are disturbing is to monumentally understate their severity. But let’s take it a step further. Consider that in 2012, based on FBI statistics, blacks committed almost twice the number of interracial crimes than whites. The Racial and Black Grievance Industries’ race-based narrative of interracial criminality implodes when one looks at the actual statistics. Not only do blacks commit a disproportionate amount of intraracial crime (crimes against other blacks), but they also commit a disproportionate amount of interracial crime, which undermines the lie that white racism is a prime motivator of violence against blacks.

A point needs to be made. The criminality expressed by these statistics isn’t committed by a majority of blacks. In actuality, these statistics are committed by what many would acknowledge as the black underclass, which isn’t that large. But the stigma associated with a disproportionate few among blacks has regrettably come to characterize blacks as a whole. Sadly, this is the result of deliberately forfeiting our duty of self-policing our own community when it comes to condemning self-destructive behavior. Blacks have been far too hesitant to publicly confront unethical conduct that undermines our reputation, which stunts our moral redemption and socio-economic progress. Blacks are guilty of engaging in the ‘soft bigotry of low expectations’ when we refuse to denounce disruptive behaviors of members of our own community, especially when that refusal is born out of racial solidarity.

To reiterate, there is a war on black men and it’s being waged at the hands of other black men. These statistics, as demoralizing as they are, represents only a portion of the sad, self-destructive nature that characterizes black behavior. But the internecine war doesn’t begin here; it actually begins in the womb. As bad as black criminality is- and it’s bad- the most dangerous place for a black child isn’t the inner city or cities disproportionately populated by blacks. It’s in its mother’s womb.

According to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black abortions accounted for nearly 36% of all abortions performed between 2007 and 2010. According to the same report, blacks accounted for almost 54% (16,738) of all abortions performed in Georgia (31, 244), even though blacks are less than a third of the population. In Mississippi, between 1995 and 2010, blacks accounted for almost seventy-two percent (39,052) of all abortions while comprising 37.4% of the population.

In 2012, according to the report, Summary of Vital Statistics 2012 The City of New York, Pregnancy Outcome, released by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, there were more black babies killed by abortion (31,328) than were born (24,758) in New York City, totaling 42.4% of all abortions performed. In 2010, 60% of all viable, black pregnancies in New York City ended in abortion. Blackgenocide.com estimates that since 1973, more than 13 million black babies have been aborted with some estimates as high as sixteen million.

Black abortions are responsible for more black deaths than black criminality. Keep in mind- blacks are no more than thirteen percent of the population, of which roughly seven percent are black women. If we narrow down this percentage further by removing the prepubescent girls, who’re not likely to have children, and women above the age of 60 who’re less likely to be pregnant, roughly three percent of the country’s population are responsible for these grossly uneven numbers. These sad statistics reveal the efficiency of black mothers who kill their children in the womb. The babies fortunate enough to make it out the likely unmarried mother’s womb (back illegitimacy rate is seventy-three percent), particularly baby boys- appear resolute in their attempts to finish the work of killing that many of their mothers started.

When you combine the numbers of black babies aborted with the numbers of black victims who die by the hands of other blacks, you see that the war on black lives has nothing to do with racist, white boogeymen. Furthermore, the numbers of black abortions and the numbers of black murders at the hands of other blacks, respectively, both exceed- by far- the total number of blacks killed by lynching (3446) between 1882-1968.

America, this is the war on blacks and black males. Not only is this a war, one wouldn’t be wrong if one sincerely questioned the depth of self-hate responsible for motivating blacks to kill themselves off with the type of reckless determination that pervades their actions.

Yet the Racial and Black Grievance Industries force themselves into silence regarding this wretched reality, which is unrelenting proof that neither of these reprehensible, self-justifying groups gives two spits about black folk. They prefer to continue ignoring very real problems that, demographically speaking, are self-created in favor of intentionally and shamefully conjuring up and perpetuating the false narrative of black victimhood at the hands of white racism. The goals are simple- to validate their importance and paychecks, to further manipulate white guilt that results in more socio-economic concessions; and to maintain civic polarization- all of which are part of an intensely perverted political agenda. The grievance industries substantiate the notion that black lives are valuable only when they’re cut short by white offenders rather than black ones- which is a most perverted form of racism.

It’s past time that both the Racial and Black Grievance Industries receive pushback against the lies they tell and the discord they cause. The grievance industries don’t do blacks any favors by exempting them from their reprobate behaviors. Blacks who indulge in these behaviors lack the requisite values that prevent the ascendency out of this chaos. These people are in desperate need of moral redemption- an area that I believe the church has clearly abdicated its responsibility.

Therefore, the members of the grievance industries must be shunned for their rhetorical contributions. Spike Lee- a frequent offender of common sense on all things racial has marginalized himself as a result of his increasingly foolish comments on racial topics. It’s precisely why moviegoers no longer patronize his movies, reducing him to crowdsourcing and public begging to fund his projects. And there’s no coincidence- the less cultural relevance he has, the more irrational his comments regarding race have become. That inverse relationship isn’t lost on anyone.

I think this is part of the template- to marginalize members of the grievance industries who would rather disseminate lies rather than offer practical solutions to problems that exist. But this can only happen when whites refuse to be manipulated any further for problems they haven’t necessarily contributed to, and when blacks sincerely embrace personal accountability while rejecting infantilization and victimhood- reclaiming the dignity that many of their ancestors strove to personify in the face of actual racial discrimination.

Neither can happen soon enough.
